Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has not been included in the match day squad against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday at the Emirates.
Petr Cech will start with Bern Leno in goal for the Gunners against the reigning league champions.
The Colombian international has dropped into third place in the pecking order behind Cech and Leno.
Ospina is expected to struggle for playing time this season, in fact head coach Unai Emery has told the keeper he is free to leave.
“[On Thursday] the window closed here in the Premier League,” Emery said.
“Today, we had a meeting with the players to close all the possibilities to bring more players. We only have three players: Carl Jenkinson, David Ospina and Joel Campbell, with the possibility to leave.”
The latest developments will serve as a boost to Besiktas who are trying to close a deal.
Turkish-Football reported that Besiktas agreed personal terms with Ospina last week but a deal has yet to be agreed with Arsenal.
The Istanbul giants want the keeper on loan or for a minimal transfer fee – preferably a free transfer.
Besiktas have made signing a new keeper a priority ever since selling Fabri to Fulham on a £5.3m move last month.
