Man City star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has stated that he feels fully fit going into the 2018/19 Premier League season.
The 27-year-old made the move to Man City from Borussia Dortmund back in 2016 however, was almost immediately sidelined due to a lengthy knee injury.
Gundogan managed to return to full fitness last summer and played 50 games for the Citizens last season.
The midfielder was also part of the Germany national team side which crashed out of the 2018 World Cup after finishing bottom of Group F.
Speaking to Omisport, Gundogan said that he feels fresh and is ready for the upcoming season.
“Yeah, I do feel fresh – maybe because the World Cup was also very short for us [Germany], unfortunately,” Gundogan told Omnisport.
“But I do feel ready. I was able to play nearly a full season last season after having big injuries. It was tough.
“At the end, I look at my stats and I made about 50 games last season. It was a really good run for myself.
“So I hope this one will be similar, especially in terms of the way we play and in terms of winning.”
Gundogan played the full 90 minutes during Man City’s 2-0 in over Arsenal on Sunday.
The 27-year-old has to play with a protective facial mask after undergoing surgery to mend a deviated septum.
Pep Guardiola’s side will be hoping to maintain their winning run of form when they host Huddersfield at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.
