Fenerbahce look set for a major transfer blow after BBC Sport’s transfer report regarding Ragnar Klavan.
According to the BBC, the 32-year-old defender is on the verge of a move to Serie A side Cagliari.
Per the source, the Serie A side has struck a £2 million deal to sign Klaven from Liverpool. The report goes onto state that Klaven will travel to Italy this week to complete the deal and have a medical.
The news comes as a blow to Fenerbahce who switched their attention towards Klaven this week after failing to land Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo.
Klaven made the move to Liverpool from the Bundesliga club Augsburg for £4.2 million back in July 2016. The experienced centre-back has however fallen behind Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez in the pecking order at Anfield.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp has sanctioned Klaven’s exit.
Liverpool are back in action this weekend when they take on London based side Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
