Everton beat Southampton 2-1 at Goodison Park to record their first Premier League game of the season.
Cenk Tosun started up front for the second game running.
The 27-year-old provided Richarlison with an assist in the 2-2 draw against Wolves last week but was unable to add to his assist tally.
He did not get a goal or an assist but as the saying goes, ‘stats are like miniskirts they do not reveal everything’.
We took a look at how the fans reacted to Tosun’s display on social media after the game.
Despite not scoring Everton fans, in general, appeared pretty enthusiastic about the ‘beast from the east’.
Cenk Tosun was immense leading the line today. His hold up play was exemplary. Worked his socks off too. Just needed a goal for a complete CF’s performance. He was that good.

People who know nothing about football may be critical . . . But anyone who knows anything about football knows what Cenk is all about . . !

What Tosun does is on the lines of Firmino; he drops deep and puts the runners on the overlap through. Things are gelling.

worked his arse off for the team again, link up play and first touch are absolutely brilliant, his goals will come soon as well, think he’s the perfect foil for the people around him. @EvertonArentWe

“Sigurdsson was fantastic. @CenkTosun_, every game that goes by, it’s not about him just scoring goals. It’s about him with his back to goal, looking like he can hold a forward line in this league because it’s absolutely imperative in this league” //t.co/vJSHXeMGNh pic.twitter.com/icVPsHc8bO

Cenk Tosun is class. End of story

Really impressive today, lots of pressing and constantly trying to win the ball back. Our attack looks dangerous. Cenk Tosun just needs a goal, his link up play and first touch were great, hard to match his work rate. Love this club.#EFC #Everton #EVESOU #PremierLeague

Tosun got a standing ovation from the home faithful.
Cenk Tosun belki gol atmadı ama bugün çok iyi oynadı çok koştu çok çabaladı ve oyundan çıkarken taraftarlar onu ayakta alkışlıyor ?? pic.twitter.com/7Lvcue1oGS

The fans loved this! Tosun was renowned for showing his appreciation to the fans after games at Besiktas as well and it seems to be going down well in England as well.

I know this is a small thing to do, but actually it’s a massive thing, really.
The gulf between the club and supporters that A Lard Arse revelled in was huge, and this is winning back that ground that wasn’t so much being lost, but could have become scorched earth. Top drawer.— Tim (@teeaitchsee) August 18, 2018
Boss this, Cenk gave my little girl his in the FE at final whistle. ??????
