Liverpool Keeper Loris Karius On Verge Of Completing Move To Turkey In ‘Win Win’ Transfer Deal

Besiktas are edging closer to striking a loan deal for Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius.

A source close to Besiktas revealed to Turkish-Football that the board had been split over signing a new shot-stopper.

The overriding view was that Tolga Zengin would be capable to serve as first-team keeper for the 2018-19 season.

Besiktas have since shifted positions and a majority of board and technical committee firmly believe a new keeper is of the utmost importance.

The Black Eagles had been in talks with Liverpool through intermediaries and are closing in on a deal following successful negotiations.

The Reds are open to Karius leaving on a temporary move to regain confidence and lock down first-team football.

Besiktas want a temporary option to see them through the current campaign.

Liverpool are willing to forgo a loan fee while Besiktas are prepared for the Reds not to include a buyout option.

The view from Besiktas is that a Karius move is a win-win option.

With time running out in the transfer window and Besiktas the only side to have expressed a genuine interest the Black Eagles feel they are on the verge of striking a deal.

Karius would be first-choice keeper were he to join on loan this season.

Zengin has struggled in the Europa League and Super Lig campaigns to such an extent that he is no longer seen as a viable first-team keeper.

Besiktas had initially planned to replace Fabri who was sold on a £5.3m move to Fulham last month.

After failing to sign Arsenal keeper David Ospina and being priced out of a deal for Liverpool shot-stopper Simon Mignolet and Bursaspor’s Harun Tekin the keeper.
