Club President Remains Coy On Liverpool Transfer Who Is Expected To Travel To Turkey Today For Medical

Besiktas club president Fikret Orman remained coy on transfer efforts to sign Liverpool keeper Loris Karius.

Orman spoke via telephone on Turkish Radio and Television state broadcaster TRT, making it clear that they have made ‘efforts’ to sign new players but would not go into any detail regarding Karius.

“We are trying to do our job to the best of our capabilities,” Orman said.

“We sold three players, we replaced the defender and now we have plans regarding a keeper.”

The club president also made it clear that Domagoj Vida who was closely linked with a move to Liverpool over the summer will be remaining in Turkey.

“Vida told us 10 times he did not want to leave, he will stay with us,” he added.

Karius is expected to travel to Turkey today for his Besiktas medical according to football journalist David Maddock.

The deal struck between the two clubs is expected to see Besiktas pay £9.5m for a permanent deal after a two-year loan spell.

The Black Eagles will pay the transfer fee if Karius plays more than 50 percent of matches and if the club ensures European competition qualification.

Turkish-Football reported yesterday that the transfer is expected to be announced soon as the club can now process paperwork again following a four-day national holiday.

Karius will be expected to replace current first-choice keeper Tolga Zengin.
