Besiktas caused confusion among Liverpool and Besiktas fans today after they momentarily announced the Loris Karius transfer ahead of schedule.
Prior to any official confirmation of the deal, Besiktas changed their Twitter banner image to one including Karius.
The banner included the former Germany U21 keeper in a Besiktas jersey along with the hashtag, “#cometobesiktas.”
The staff running the account quickly realised their error and reverted te banner to its original state. The transfer was eventually announced by Liverpool on their official Twitter page.
Karius will join Besiktas on a two-year loan deal for £2.5 million. The fee will rise to £9.5m if the 26-year-old plays more than 50% of games during the loan period and if Besiktas qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
