Besiktas’ newly signed goalkeeper Loris Karius has revealed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wanted him to remain at Anfield.
The 26-year-old joined Besiktas on a two-year loan deal last week and has already begun training with his new teammates.
Karius fell down the pecking order at Liverpool following the arrival of Alisson Beker from AS Roma.
However, the former Germany U21 had to convince Klopp to let him join Besiktas.
“He [Klopp] told me he would like to have me in the squad because he wants to have the best quality players,” Karius was quoted as saying by ESPN.
“But I spoke to him and asked him for my wish. It is important to me to play for Besiktas”
“I talked with him for a long time and he understood my situation. I think it was a good deal for everyone. He wished me well but he said he would have liked to keep me.”

Karius could make his debut for his new club this weekend when Besiktas take on Bursaspor on the Turkish Super Lig.
Liverpool meanwhile will be hoping to maintain their perfect start to the season when they face Leicester City on Saturday.
Karius made a total of 33 appearances for the Merseyside based club last season.
