Claims of racism by Arsenal star ‘exaggerated’, says Germany boss Joachim Low

Germany national team manager Joachim Low believes Mesut Ozil’s claims of racism are ‘exaggerated.’

It has been a turbulent summer for Mesut Ozil ever since he was pictured alongside Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Turkish embassy in London.

Things went from bad to worse after Germany crashed out of their 2018 World Cup after just three games. Ozil was singled out by ex-professionals and pundits.

The 29-year-old ended up quitting the Germany national team citing racism and discrimination.

However, Germany boss Low has stated that there is no racism within the team.

“His claims of racism are exaggerated,” Low stated.

“Within my team during my time here, there has been not even a hint of racism.”

It should be noted that Mesut Ozil did not actually claim that anybody from within the squad was racist towards him.

Ozil has not been included in Germany’s squad for the UEFA Nations League opening against France.

Meanwhile, Ilkay Gundogan has been called up while Sane who was omitted from the World Cup squad has returned.
