Chelsea Ace Commits Future To Blues Amid Links With Euro Giants

Galatasaray summer target Gary Cahil has vowed to regain his place in Chelsea’s starting eleven.

The 32-year-old was closely linked with a move to Galatasaray last month, however, the Lions were unable to convince the defender to make the move to Istanbul.

Galatasaray were subsequently left light on options in defence and have just three senior options. The Istanbul Giants were desperate to replace Jason Denayer who returned to Man City after his loan deal expired.

Cahil opted against joining Galatasaray and has instead set his sights on returning to Chelsea’s starting eleven.

“There’s a new manager, we’re taking on some new ideas, a new philosophy definitely in shape and in the way he sees things,” Cahil told Chelsea FC’s website.

“Wherever you’re experienced or not, it’s still a matter of getting your head down, working hard and getting fit when you come back for the start of the season.

“It’s been strange coming back so late with the World Cup. It’s been staggered with some players having been back for four, five or six weeks, and some two, but there’s going to be plenty of games coming up.”

It is unclear whether Galatasaray will make a fresh attempt at signing Cahil in January. The former England international has under 12 months remaining on his contract with the London based club.

Cahil has not been included in any of Maurizio Sarri’s 18-man matchday squads this season. The Blues maintained their flawless start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Galatasaray meanwhile suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Trabzonspor.
