Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes Gunners boss Unai Emery has to keep star playmaker Mesut Ozil in his starting eleven.
The 29-year-old has started three of Arsenal’s four games so far.
Speaking to TalkSport, Merson stated that he is a huge fan of Mesut Ozil and that he would always have the 29-year-old in his starting eleven.
“At £350,000 a week you have to make a space,” Merson told TalkSport.
“It’s a hard one. If I was manager I’d want him in the team but then you’d be watching the game thinking what did I pick him for today?
“Some people love him, some people don’t like him. I think he’s top player.
“For me, you always play your best players, so he should be playing in that team.”

Ozil is expected to be back in action when Arsenal take on Newcastle United on September 15.
The 29-year-old started for Arsenal during their 3-2 win over Cardiff City last weekend. Ozil is however yet to register an assist or goal this season.
The former Real Madrid star has spent the international break in north London after quitting the Germany national team following the 2018 World Cup.
