Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has heaped praise on Mesut Ozil ahead of this weekends clash with Newcastle United.
The Gunners take on the Magpies later on today at St James Park, Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 (GMT).
Ozil has been under the media spotlight in the opening weeks of the season after being substituted off twice by manager Unai Emery.
However, Seaman believes Ozil should remain an Arsenal stated even if he doesn’t play well in every game. The former England international believes Ozil is a “Quality player’ who cares deeply about the club.
“If you don’t play well then you will get singled out. That’s the way it is,” Seaman told Standard Sport.
“He doesn’t play well every game. I think a lot of fans expect him to play well every game when it’s impossible.
“He’s a quality player, there’s no doubt about that. Sometimes people think he doesn’t care, but that’s just his style. He does care – a lot.
“And he’s still got great qualities so, for me, he stays in the Arsenal team no problem.”

Ozil spent the international break in north London after quitting the Germany national team. The 29-year-old started against Cardiff City and played 84 minutes before being substituted off
Unai Emery’s side will be hoping to register their third win in a row today while Newcastle are still on the hunt for their first win of the season.
