Manchester United haven’t given up hopes of signing Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil according to the Manchester Evening News.
Per the source, the Red Devils are preparing to offload defender Eric Bailly and are considering using the Ivory Coast international as part of a player plus cash offer for Ozil.
The Germany international has a strong relationship with United boss Jose Mourinho and has been linked with a move away from Arsenal following a turbulent summer.
Meanwhile, Ladbrokes has also placed Man United among the favourites to sign Ozil if he is to leave Arsenal.
The Express recently suggested that the 29-year-old playmaker could be looking for a move away from the Gunners after failing to justify his worth to Unai Emery.

However, it should be noted that Ozil has started all but one game for Arsenal so far this season. Furthermore, the former Germany international heaped praise on Emery following Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday.
Ozil joined Arsenal for £42 million back in 2013 and penned a contract extension back in January.
