Juventus ace Emre Can issues apology after sparking sexism row following Cristiano Ronaldo red card

Juventus ace Emre Can has apologised after sparking a sexism row following Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card at Valencia.

The former Liverpool man kicked up a storm on social media after speaking to DAZN following Juventus’ win over Valencia in the UEFA Champions League.

Commenting on Ronaldo’s red card Can stated, “I just heard he (the referee) said it was because of hair-pulling. We’re not women, we’re playing football.”

The 24-year-old was widely criticised for his sexist remark.

Can has issued a public apology for his comments on his official Instagram page.

Can made the move to Juventus from Liverpool on a free transfer after his contract with the Merseyside based club expired.

The Germany international has made a positive start to his new life in Italy with one assist in six games for Juve this season.

The Serie A giants taker on Bologna on Wednesday evening as they look to maintain their winning run of form.
