Per Mertesacker has played with some of the best footballers around from his time playing at Hannover, Werder Bremen, Arsenal and the 104 caps he picked up for Germany. The defender revealed which of the footballers he has had the pleasure of playing alongside make his all-time best XI.
Mertesacker included just two Arsenal players in the list, Mesut Ozil and defender Laurent Koscielny.
The playmaker of Turkish origin was also Mertesacker’s teammate for the Germany national team.
It is perhaps a bit of a surprise that more Gunners players were not included considering he played at the club for seven years.
Mertesacker also played alongside the likes of Robin van Persie and Alexis Sanchez but did not deem them good enough to make the side.
Some of the other star names on the list were fellow 2014 World Cup winners Philipp Lahm and Miroslav Klose.
