Head coach Pep Guardiola will be without two star names heading into the match.

Gundogan is nearing recovery but will definitely not feature against the Ukraine giants.

Guardiola could however, welcome back defender Kyle Walker who has recovered from a groin injury.

Shakhtar head into the clash having never lost against an English side in European competition recording five wins and two draws in seven games.

City meanwhile have won four of their last six Champions League games on the road – beating Hoffenheim 2-1 away from home in their last match.
