Besiktas suffered a shock 4-2 defeat at the Vodafone Park Stadium against Genk at the Europa League on Thursday.

Liverpool loanee Loris Karius kept his place in goal despite rumours he was going to be dropped.

Perhaps he would have preferred to being dropped in hindsight following the state of defending.

The back-four did Karius no favors, putting on a shambolic performance.

To be fair were it not for the keeper the scoreline would probably have been a lot worse.

The 25-year-old did actually make a few important saves and to be fair there was not a whole lot he could have done about the goals conceded.

He did end up conceding another own goal as a result of Caner Erkin.

Erkin was also the player responsible for the own goal Karius was panned for in the 2-0 loss against Malmo on Match Day 2.

The defeat was the heaviest home loss the Istanbul giants have suffered in the competition.

It was only the second time Besiktas have lost at home in all competitions this term.

The German keeper has now conceded 14 goals in eight games for the Black Eagles in all competitions.

Besiktas take on Rizespor next in the Super Lig at home on Monday.
