Arsenal boss Unai Emery has issued his thoughts on Mesut Ozil’s reaction after being substituted during the Gunners clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
The north London based club were held to a 2-2 draw by the Eagles ending their 11 game winning run.
Ozil was replaced by Danny Welbeck with 22 minutes remaining on the clock. The former Germany international reacted angrily and threw his glove to the ground.
However, Emery does not believe his star playmakers reaction is a cause for concern. In fact, the Spanish tactician stated that Ozil’s reaction was “normal.”
“Every player wants to continue playing,” Emery told reporters after the game.
“I like the players who show character. He was not happy because the result was not good at the end.”
Emery went on to explain why he decided to bring Welbeck on in place of Ozil.
“In free-kicks defensively, Palace were pushing and put a ninth player on the pitch for free-kicks to find more chances to score,” Emery stated.
“Danny Welbeck is very good in these situations, both defensively and offensively.”

Ozil was the star of the show last weekend during Arsenal’s win over Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.
The 30-year-old has netted four goals and provided one assist in ten appearances for Arsenal this season.
Ozil will be hoping to return to the scoresheet when Arsenal take on Blackpool on the League Cup on Wednesday. The Gunners next Premier League fixture is up against title rivals Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
