Turkish Keeper & Ederson Top Goalkeeper Chart Ahead Of Liverpool Ace Alisson

Basaksehir are top of the Super Lig table despite the fact they have not scored more goals than any other top-six side.

The Istanbul minnows owe a lot of their success to an impressive defensive record.

Goalkeeper Mert Gunok has conceded just four goals in 11 games keeping eight clean sheets in the process.

In total Gunok has conceded five goals and kept nine clean sheets in 13 appearances across all competitions.

Taking the top five leagues into account the Turkey international currently has the best record for least goals conceded per-game alongside Manchester City keeper Ederson.

Both keepers come out just ahead of Alisson Becker who has been outstanding for Liverpool since joining from Roma.

Alisson has kept six clean sheets in the league but has let in five goals in four Champions League games this term.

The Brazilian was brought in for Loris Karius who moved to Besiktas on loan.

The German has conceded 16 goals in 11 appearances for Besiktas in all competitions this season.

Samir Handanovic comes in at fourth with Atletico Madrid ace Jan Oblak fifth.

Gunok has proved to be a bargain for Basaksehir who snapped him up on a free transfer from Bursaspor in the summer of 2017.

The 29-year-old spent much of his career in the shadow of Volkan Demirel during his time at Fenerbahce despite being highly rated.

Gunok has six Turkey international caps under his belt but his last call-up was in 2015.

The experienced keeper is expected to regain his place between the sticks for the national team.
