Reigning Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have been linked with a move for Liverpool ace Xherdan Shaqiri earlier this week.
According to the daily Turkish newspaper Fanatik, the Istanbul giants are planning a loan bid for Shaqiri as they look to strengthen a depleted squad. Fanatik go onto state that Shaqiri has been in poor form as a fringe player this season and is available in January.
However, a source close to Galatasaray has revealed to Turkish-Football.com that the Lions have not made any move for Shaqiri nor are there any plans to sign the Switzerland international ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Furthermore, it is unlikely that Liverpool would be willing to allow Shaqiri to leave Anfield. The 27-year-old has looked lively when called upon by Jurgen Klopp and only joined the Reds on a five-year deal for £13.5m earlier this year.
The Swiss international has played just 225 minutes of Premier League football scoring one goal three assists in all competitions.
Galatasaray are under Financial Fair Play watch and would not be able to sign the Liverpool man on a permanent move in January.
The Lions are back in action this weekend when they take on Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig.
