Besiktas suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the Vodafone Park Stadium against Sivasspor on Sunday.

The Black Eagles took an early lead on 11 minutes when Ricardo Quaresma setup 19-year-old Guven Yalcin with the opening goal.

But things took a turn for the worse soon afterward.

Liverpool loanee Loris Karius was dropped for the second game running but his replacement Tolga Zengin did not do himself any favors if he hopes to establish himself as first-choice keeper again.

Zengin was caught in no-mans land for the equaliser just a few minutes later, failing to deal with a corner and getting lobbed with a header from David Braz.

The 34-year-old keeper did not inspire confidence in his defence with his inability to deal with aerial balls and crosses.

Karius did not feature in the 1-1 draw against Genk either in the Europa League Match Day 4 clash last Thursday either.

The German keeper is expected back in goal after the international break.

The defeat saw Besiktas fall nine points behind league leaders Basaksehir.

The Istanbul giants will take a much needed 12 day break before taking on Ankaragucu next on Saturday 24 November in Ankara.
