Ilkay Gundogan – Man City
The midfielder of Turkish origin returned from injury with a bang. After providing an assist in his first game back against Shakhtar mid-week, helping his side record a 6-0 victory in the Champions League he went and did one better. Gundogan came off the bench in the Manchester derby to score against bitter rivals Man United. The goal sealed all three points for the reigning Premier League champions giving the visitors no chance of making a comeback. And what a goal it was. Gundogan wrapped up a 44 pass sequence to tuck home a wonderfully well-worked goal. City ended up recording a 3-1 win and moving back into 1st place in the league table.

Zeki Celik – Lille
The young Turk continues to go from strength to strength for Lille. No other player made more tackles than Celik (3), he also made two important interceptions. Celik put on a stellar defensive display but also contributed to the attack creating two goal-scoring chances and causing Strasbourg all sorts of problems down the right flank. Lille held onto 2nd place in Ligue 1 following the goalless draw.
Mesut Ozil – Arsenal: The Gunners were not at their best against Wolves. And is so often the case when Arsenal do not play well; Ozil gets the blame. The playmaker of Turkish origin was not at his best, neither was the rest of his team. But at the end of the day they extended their unbeaten run to 16 games after holding Wolves to a 1-1 draw.

Okay Yokuslu – Celta Vigo
It does not surprise me that Okay has started the last two games for the La Liga outfit. What would surprise me is if the Turkey international does not hold onto his spot for the rest of the season. The powerful midfielder pulled off more passes than any of his teammates (68) at 88 percent accuracy. The 24-year-old put in a hard-working display, intercepted play and was prevented a goal by the goalpost. Okay hit the woodwork with a header from a corner on 19 minutes that would have put his side ahead. And that is why football is a game of fine margins.
