Liverpool loanee Loris Karius has not played the last two games for Besiktas in all competitions.
Karius was benched heading into the 1-1 draw against Genk and was not included in the matchday squad in the 2-1 defeat to Sivasspor in the Super Lig.
This led to results that the German keeper had been dropped.
Reports in the Turkish media have claimed that Karius was on the verge of getting the axe for weeks and looked finally to have got their story straight.
Besiktas have revealed to Turkish-Football that the 25-year-old is actually injured and that he has not been dropped.
Karius picked up a back strain during the final training session ahead of the Genk clash in Belgium on Thursday.
The keeper was still named on the bench but his strain worsened the following day ruling him out of the squad against Sivasspor.
Karius is expected to make a full recovery over the international break and return to the starting lineup against Ankaragucu on 24 November.
Tolga Zengin has started in goal for the past two games but came under fire following a series of mistakes in the shock 2-1 defeat to Sivasspor at the Vodafone Park.
