Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil rejected ‘crazy offers’ from Asia according to his agent Dr Erkut Sogut.
The 30-year-old was closly linked with an Emirates exit this time last year as his contract neared its expiry date.
Ozil entered the final six months of his contract and was free to hold talks with foreign clubs.
According to Dr Erkut Sogut, Ozil received offers in the region of £1 million per week.
“We had some really big offers from Asia – there were some crazy offers,” Sogut told the Evening Standard.
The Standard goes on to state Ozil rejected advances from Asia worth around £1 million a week.
Ozil went on to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Gunners and committed his future to Arsenal. The 30-year-old is understood to be earning in the region of £350,000 per week and is the highest paid player in Arsenal’s history.
The former Germany international has hinted that he would like to end his career at the north London based club.
Ozil will remain in north London over the international break after quitting the Germany national team following a turbulent summer.
Arsenal will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run of form when they take on Bournemouth in the Premier League next weekend.
