Turkey take on Sweden in their final UEFA Nations League on November 17 at the Konya Stadium.
Head coach Mircea Lucescu made a few interesting squad selection choices. The most in-form goalkeeper in the league, Basaksehir shot-stopper Mert Gunok did not make the cut.
Sporting Lisbon centre-back on loan at Alanyaspor, Merih Demiral did however, get his first call-up but faces stiff competition from 21-year-old Bursaspor defender Ertugrul Ersoy, Leicester City centre-back Caglar Soyuncu and Galatasaray stopper Serdar Aziz.
Aziz and Soyuncu are likely to be Lucescu’s centre-back partners. The Leicester City man has started the last 14 games for Turkey despite struggling for playing time at his club side.
Lille full-back Zeki Celik should start with Hasan Ali on the other flank.
In midfield, Celta Vigo’s Okay Yokuslu is likely to feature alongside Mahmut and Oguzhan Ozyakup.
Roma star Cengiz Under is likely to star on the wing with AC MIlan attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu on the other flank and Everton ace Cenk Tosun upfront.
The Crescent Stars head into the League B, Group 2 Match Day 4 clash on three points from three games in a group that also includes Russia and Sweden.
Russia currently top the group with seven points while Sweden are last on just one point but the Swedes have played just twice while Turkey and Russia have played three games each.
Turkey will be relegated to League C if they lose to Sweden today but a victory would secure a League B spot.
The UEFA Nations League is a new national team competition that replaces friendlies with competitive matches, allowing nations to play against equally ranked teams.
Fifty-five countries were split into four leagues based on their rankings. The group winners in Leagues B, C, and D ensure promotion, while teams that finish at the bottom of their groups are relegated.
