Lokomotiv Moscow won their first Champions League game of the current campaign with a 2-0 home victory over Galatasaray on Wednesday evening.

Krychowiak gave the Russian giants the lead after his shot took a wicked deflection off a Galatasaray player on its way into the back of the net.

Ignatjev scored soon after the half-time break, capitalising on more poor Galatasaray defending to put the three points out of sight.

Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru was moved back onto the wing after impressing in a striker role in previous games.

The move did not pay off, Eren Derdiyok struggled to make any impact up front and the Lions attack looked toothless.

The visitors struggled to create any meaningful attacks and rarely troubled the opposition goal.

The Istanbul giants have lacked punch in the attack ever since selling Bafetimbi Gomis over the summer and failing to replace him.

Gomis scored 32 goals and provided six assists in all competitions for the Lions last term.

The defat means the Lions cannot make the second round but keeps them in 3rd place heading into Match Day 6.

Galatasaray can still qualify for the Europa League with a third place finish.
