Galatasaray Sign Pro-Deal With Two Academy Players Cekdar Orhan & Ogun Caliskan, Promise Two Youngsters First-Team Action After Winter Break

Galatasaray signed a professional contract with two academy players today, 18-year-old defender Ogun Caliskan and 20-year-old Cekdar Orhan.

The academy duo became the latest in a growing trend of young players breaking into the Galatasaray first team.

Orhan signed a three-year deal with the Yellow-Reds. The attacking midfielder scored 14 times in 33 games for the reserves.

The Lions have already given four players who signed pro-contracts over the summer first-team action this term, all three were born after the year 2000 – Ozan Kabak, Yunus Akgun and Mustafa Kapi.

Additionally, Atalay Babacan and Celil Yuksel who recently signed pro-contract deals have been promised additional playing time after the winter break.

Galatasaray have been forced into turning their focus towards the academy and youth players as they have had their hands tied due to financial problems.

The Lions are unable to spend in order to meet their FFP requirements and are working on debt cutting measures.

The reigning Super Lig champions have been trying to slash the wage bill through offloading their highest paid players.

Bafetimbi Gomis was sold over the summer, meanwhile, Eren Derdiyok and Serdar Aziz were transfer listed earlier this week.

The club are in the process of trying to sell Garry Rodrigues to the Middle East and are prepared for Younes Belhanda to find a new club.
