Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has struggled for playing time in 2019 making just a single start and playing two games in total.

There has been speculation over Ozil’s future as a result.

The playmaker of Turkish origin shared a photograph of himself wearing the Arsenal captain’s armband along with a quote from club legend Dennis Bergkamp which read: “When you start supporting a football club, you don’t support it because of the trophies, or a player, or history, you support it because you found yourself somewhere there; found a place where you belong.”

Ozil used the quote from Gunners legend Bergkamp in outlining his future.

Ozil is the highest paid Arsenal player on a contract worth £350,000 a week which ties him to the club until 2021.

The 2014 World Cup winner has lifted three FA Cup trophies since joining the club from Real Madrid in 2013.

Arsenal were defeated 1-0 by BATE in the Europa League on Thursday, Ozil was not named in the squad. Head coach Unai Emery came under fire following the loss to the European minnows.

The North London based outfit take on BATE in their next game which will be played at the Emirates on Thursday.
