Turkish League Previews 32 – Can Basaksehir Get Back On Track? Galatasaray Face Tricky Away Trip To Rizespor

Our current season record is 58 Wins – 36 Loss

Antalyaspor vs Bursaspor

Antalyaspor appear to be preparing for their summer holidays and who can blame them. The team is 6th and Antalya is a lovely place in summer. Bursaspor meanwhile are edging ever closer to relegation. The one time Super Lig champions are 17th in the league on 30 points. They still have three games and could, by all means, escape the drop but I just can’t back them right now.

Rizespor vs Galatasaray

Galatasaray moved into 1st place in the league after beating rivals and fellow title challengers Besiktas 2-0. Rizespor will be no pushovers but I can’t see the Lions dropping points at this stage of the season. The Yellow-Reds will be on a high after their derby win. Their away form hasn’t been great, in fact, they have lost their last two games on the road but expect them to raise their game against the Black Sea based side. Fatih Terim tends to get his best results in high-pressure situations.

Prediction: Galatasaray Draw No Bet

Fenerbahce vs Akhisarspor

Fenerbahce could still mathematically be relegated but their win over Kasimpasa pretty much-ensured league safety. If the Yellow Canaries manage to avoid defeat at home against last-placed Akhisar they will have taken another major step towards remaining a Super Lig club.

Prediction: Fenerbahce win

Goztepe vs Sivasspor

Goztepe have finally shown signs of life. After looking like they were headed for relegation they managed to win back to back games – including a victory over Basaksehir – and move one point above the drop zone. Sivasspor are just one position above the Izmir based side and are not safe yet. I expect Goztepe to continue their run of form and remain in the league next season.

Prediction: Goztepe Win

Kayserispor vs Kasimpasa

Stay well aware from this one.

Konyaspor vs Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor have been in brilliant form and have closed the gap with 3rd placed Besiktas to just three points after winning five of their last six games. Konyaspor have nothing left to play for after ensuring league safety. The home side will not be able to finish in the top four this term. The visitors meanwhile would directly qualify for Europa League if they finished third.

Prediction: Trabzonspor Draw No Bet

Malatyaspor vs Erzurum

Erzurumspor have won three of their last four games. They are still in the relegation zone and may have left it a little too late but they are not going down without a fight. Malatyaspor meanwhile, have nothing to play for.

Prediction: Erzurum Draw No Bet

Basaksehir vs Ankaragucu

Basaksehir have gone four games without a win. The Istanbul minnows blew an eight points lead they had over Galatasaray and now find themselves in second place on head to head results. Abdullah Avci’s side are not only letting the title slip, they might even finish the campaign in 3rd place as Besiktas are just four points behind. I don’t think Basaksehir will lose but I can’t back them to win either right now. Avci’s side have scored just twice in their last four games. They are still defending well but can’t find the back of the net.

Prediction: Under 2.5 goals

Besiktas vs Alanyaspor

Besiktas lost away to Galatasaray. On paper this was a game that Senol Gunes would have known could swing either way. The form book gets thrown out the window when it comes to derby games. Now that normal business has resumed I expect the Black Eagles to continue their impressive run with a victory over Alanyaspor.

Prediction: Besiktas Win
