Abdullah Avci has been appointed Besiktas manager after signing a three-year deal with the club.

Basaksehir announced earlier today that they agreed to part ways with Avci after holding a meeting with the manager.

“Following discussions that we have had with Abdullah Avcı, we have come to the joint decision to part ways,” the club revealed in an official statement issued by the club.

Besiktas released a statement shortly after that they had reached an agreement with the 47-year-old.

Avci will replace Senol Gunes who resigned from his position to take on the role of Turkish national team head coach on a permanent basis – he was manager both Besiktas and Turkey before.

The former Turkey national team boss transformed Basaksehir from a small club into genuine title contenders.

The Istanbul minnows went neck and neck with eventual Super Lig champions Galatasaray this season.
