Les Blues conceded twice within a 10-minute span in the first-half with Kaan Ayhan opening the scoring and Cengiz Under doubling the lead.
The scoreline could have got a lot worse had Hugo Lloris not made key saves to prevent Burak Yilmaz from getting his name on the scoresheet. The striker could easily have had a hat-trick with the number of chances he had.
Turkey were so dominant that France failed to register a single shot on target – for the first time in 10 years.
France boss Didier Deschamps made no excuses for his side and was self-critical of the performance describing the defeat as taking a ‘slap’.
“When there is a collective performance like this, there is nothing to retain positive,” the 50-year-old told TF1 .
“We did not play our game against a team that played as they like, and we were not present.
“If we play with no intentions, even though we are world champions, this is what happens.
“We took a good slap tonight and we will analyse it. There is nothing else to say.
“Congratulations to Turkey and we should return to our basics.”

Turkey are first in Group H after three games with nine points and have a chance to extend their lead further on Tuesday away to Iceland.
The Crescent-Stars have won all five games since Senol Gunes took charge, scoring 12 times and conceding just once.
