Liverpool, Manchester City and Basel are keeping an eye on Fenerbahce goalkeeper Berke Ozer.

Emre Sarigul wrote in Goal today that the Reds and City have made an enquiry for the 19-year-old keeper.

The three clubs interested in Ozer have contacted Ozer’s representatives regarding his current situation and availability with the view to sign him as a future investment.

The young keeper would be loaned out if he were to leave Fenerbahce to gain first-team experience.

Ozer rose through the ranks of the Altinordu academy before breaking into the first team. The young keeper turned down interest from several European sides including City to join Fenerbahce.

Before his move to Fenerbahce in 2018 Altinordu president Mehmet Seyit Ozkan revealed that City made an offer for Ozer.

“We want him to play in Europe, if Berke has a great season the odds of him moving to the Premier League are high,” Ozkan told the Guardian.

“Manchester City already made him an offer. We will see what the future holds.”

Ozer was under the impression he would be given playing time at Fenerbahce following their change in leadership.

Ali Koc replaced Aziz Yildirim as club president after 20 years at the helm. Koc has ushered in sweeping changes and one of his main policies was changing the club culture towards giving young players more opportunities.

Fenerbahce have a reputation as being a place where young talents struggle. Merih Demiral left the academy for the Portuguese third-tier before moving to Sporting Lisbon, Alanyaspor, Sassuolo and finally Juventus this summer on an €18m move.

The Yellow Canaries signed 21-year-old Altay Bayindir from Ankaragucu in July which is expected to push Ozer further back in the pecking order.

Despite being heavily criticized last season Harun Tekin is likely to remain first-choice keeper with Bayindir as his back up.

Veteran Volkan Demiral could be offered a contract extension which leaves Ozer pushed down the pecking order.

Ozer wants clarity over his future and if Fenerbahce do not wish to give him playing time he would prefer to leave on loan or a permanent move.
