John Obi Mikel arrived in Turkey at the start of the week to officially complete his move to Trabzonspor.
Mikel enjoyed an extended break following the African Cup of Nations.
He was part of the Nigeria side that reached the semi-finals in Egypt and beat Tunisia in the third-place playoff.
The experienced midfielder was unveiled in a signing ceremony at the Trabzonspor headquarters and picked his shirt number.
Mikel will wear the No 12 shirt and Turkish-Football can confirm that the reason behind his decision was because the number holds special meaning to him from his time at Chelsea.
The 32-year-old informed Turkish-Football that Chelsea and the shirt number he wore while at the Blues holds a special place in his heart.

Mikel spent 11 years at Chelsea winning two Premier League titles, three FA Cup trophies, the Champions League and Europa League.
The experienced midfielder made a total of 249 appearances in the Premier League for the Blues.
Trabzonspor signed Mikel on a two-year deal as a free agent over the summer.
