Arsenal manager Unai Emery revealed that he is set to make a decision regarding whether Mesut Ozil will return for the Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

Ozil has yet to make an appearance this season after he was the victim of an attempted car-jacking with teammate Sead Kolasinac.

The playmaker of Turkish origin was involved in a further incident a fortnight later which resulted in two people being arrested outside his north London home.

Kolasinac made his first appearance this term in the victory over Burnley last weekend but Ozil missed the clash due to illness.

Emery underlined that Ozil must be fit and at full capacity if he hopes to make the side.

“He needs to be fit. He is training normally with the team,” Emery said.

“That is the first way to achieve that, and after that he can help us with his capacity. We will make a final decision today.”

Ozil enjoyed a successful pre-season period where he featured regularly in the Arsenal side over the course of the US Tour.

The Gunners have won their opening two games of the season beating Newcastle United away and Burnley at the Emirates.
