Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny will travel to Istanbul tonight for advanced talks with Besiktas.

A Besiktas insider told Turkish-Football that talks with Elneny have progressed since we first reported on the story on 28 August.

The Black Eagles want Elneny on loan but have yet to reach an agreement with Arsenal over his wage payment structure.

The Gunners want Besiktas to cover all his £50,000 per-week wages but the Super Lig side want to reach a compromise.

Elneny’s agent is set to arrive with his client in Istanbul where they will meet the Turkish intermediary who has been leading negotiations with Besiktas.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has publically stated that the midfielder should find a new team.

“We have now some players, they know their situation,” Emery was quoted as saying by the Telegraph.

“For example, Elneny and Mustafi know their position in the squad and really I want the players to be happy here, I want the players to be protagonists here.

“Last year with Mustafi and Mo, when they didn’t play they weren’t happy and I spoke with them a lot of times last year and this pre-season and I think it is positive for them to leave and sign for another team where they can be protagonists and be happy and continue their careers.”

Besiktas are on the hunt for a new central midfielder after parting ways with Gary Medel who completed his move to Serie A side Bologna a few days ago.
