Arsenal beat Newcastle United 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in the Premier League winning their first game back following the winter break.
Mesut Ozil started for the Gunners and ended up scoring his first goal of the season in the process.
The playmaker of Turkish origin netted his sides third goal wrapping up an impressive display.
Ozil created more chances than anyone else over the course of the game (4) but did not escape the criticism of Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness.
Souness accused Ozil of not ‘busting a gut’ and questioned his attitude.

“That’s his first goal in 10 months,” Souness said.
“He’s got unbelievable quality He sees a pass in tight areas.
“It’s the same old accusations does he bust a gut no he doesn’t always do it
“I mean if he had a different attitude where he could get angry with himself when things weren’t going well.
“If he had a slightly different attitude where he could get really angry and fired up with himself he would still be at Real Madrid.
“He’s not a boy anymore he knows what he has to do to be successful at this level.”
However, the stats showed that Ozil actually ran 10.7km today and that only Xhaka covered more ground running 10.8 km.
Souness did, however, admit that he thinks Ozil is an ‘exceptional’ player but believes he should be giving his team more.
“There are very few players playing professional players anywhere that have his ability he is exceptional,” he added.
“He should be at this age now at the top of his game scoring regularly, creating regularly and working his socks off for the team when they don’t have the ball.
“He’s a very special talent but how do you make him focus where he is bang at it.”
Ozil has featured regularly since Mikel Arteta replaced Unai Emery as head coach.
The goal was his first under the new boss who has put his faith in the 31-year-old.
The victory moved Arsenal into 10th place on 34 points.
