Alexander Sorloth failed to score a single goal for Crystal Palace last season so you can understand why they allowed him to leave on a two-year loan to Trabzonspor in the summer.

Few could have predicted that Sorloth would go onto score 22 goals and provide five assists with a third of the season yet to be played.

The Norway international has seen his value increase £3.6m in just six-months.

Sorloth was valued £5.4m according to Transfermarkt in the summer.

His value is now £9m and could end up increasing further by the end of the season.

It is worth pointing out that the Super Lig is not on the same level as the Premier League but that is not a valid argument for dismissing Sorloth’s goal scoring record.

There is not a league in the world with perhaps the exception of La Liga – and even that is debatable – which is at the same level as the Premier League.

That does not, however, stop Premier League clubs from signing players from weaker leagues who go onto thrive in the United Kingdom.

Palace initially paid FC Midtjylland £8.1m for Sorloth on the back of his impressive form at the Danish club.

Sorloth has excelled at Trabzonspor who are currently top of the Super Lig.

The 25-year-old striker will star in the Champions League next term should the Black Sea based side win the league title.

Trabzonspor have a €6m obligation to buy Sorloth next season if he starts in 50 percent of the games.
