Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan has revealed that he regrets hurling his football boot at the linesman during Atletico Madrid’s 3-2 Copa del Rey defeat against Barcelona.

“Of course I regret it now, there are youngsters who look up to me and I set a bad example, I did not actually aim at the linesman I was just frustrated,” Turan told TRT.

Turan responded to his boot coming off in a challenge by throwing it at the assistant referee.

The boot narrowly missed the official’s head and resulted in the Turkish international being shown a yellow card.

The referee Gil Manzano saw the incident and showed Turan a yellow card for dissent according to Inside Spanish Football.
