Manager Erik ten Hag has a difficult decision to make for the Carabao Cup match against Newcastle United regarding if should he play his first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana or give backup keeper Altay Bayindir a chance.
Onana is due to miss several matches in January and February when he goes to play for Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations.
If ten Hag waits to give Bayindir his debut until Onana is gone he will be left with an unprepared keeper if he does not get any playing time beforehand.
The report claims United need to know if Bayindir is prepared to take his place in goal before the winter transfer opens.
Bayindir has been waiting patiently for his debut and appears in high spirits despite not playing.
He recently gave an interview on the official Manchester United website where he revealed he is happy at the club and has settled in.
