Wilfried Zaha was the star of the show scoring a brace and putting on a man of the match display as Galatasaray navigated past a tricky Kasimpasa side.
Next it was the big derby between rivals Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor.
The Yellow Canaries headed into the game in great form having won their last 19 games in all competitions and entered the game with the best record in all of Europe.
Trabzonspor ended up being party poopers managing to beat Fenerbahce 3-2 away from home. Paul Ouachu, Berat Ozdemir and Nicolas Pepe all scored in the first half to give the visitors a three goal lead.
Dusan Tadic scored in the 61st minute and did bag a brace on 90 minutes but it proved to be too little too late.
The other Saturday games saw Samsunspor win their first game of the season beating Hatayspor 2-1 at home and Istanbulspor lost 4-2 at home against Pendikspor.
On Sunday Besiktas had the chance to make up lost ground with Fenerbahce losing but ended up blowing it losing 3-2 at home against Antalyaspor.
To make matters worse Eric Bailly was substituted at half-time after arguing with a teammate and publicly blasted for the incident by manager Burak Yilmaz.
“Competitive tension pushes us to greater success, and that is all we want,” Bailly wrote after the game.
“We all want to win and want the best. I apologize to the manager, my team-mates and Besiktas family for my mistake. Heads up and focus on the next one.”
Interim manager Burak Yilmaz later confirmed that Bailly’s substitution was due to his ‘inappropriate’ actions.
Yilmaz said: “There was a problem with Eric Bailly during the half-time. That’s why I took him off.
“There is no injury situation. I took him out of the game due to an inappropriate move.”
The other Sunday games saw Adana Demirspor held to a 1-1 draw against Sivasspor.
Basaskehir drew 3-3 against Ankaragucu and Konyaspor drew 1-1 against Fatih Karagumruk.
