Tottenham in Talks Over Terminating Loan Deal For Overweight Midfielder

Tottenham are reportedly in talks with Galatasaray to end Tanguy Ndombele’s loan spell early after the midfielder fell out of favour according to the Express.

Spurs have been trying to sell Ndombele for several transfer windows, and his contract situation may mean that they have to accept a lower fee if they want to find a buyer in January.

Ndombele is still Tottenham’s record signing, despite the club spending heavily on other players in recent years. He joined from Lyon for £63million in 2019, and although he started well at Tottenham, his form quickly deteriorated.

Ndombele has scored 10 goals in 91 first-team appearances for Tottenham, but he has not played at all since the 2021/22 season, when he was dropped from the squad by former manager Antonio Conte.

Ndombele’s high price tag means that Levy is reluctant to sell him for a low fee, but his disastrous loan move to Galatasaray may leave him with no choice.

Reports in Turkiye continue to claim Galatasaray are unhappy with Ndombele’s performance on loan and that they have asked Tottenham to take him back in January.

Ndombele’s manager and teammates are reportedly frustrated with his lack of effort on and off the pitch, and some players believe that he is overweight.

Despite reports that manager Okan Buruk is unhappy with Ndombele’s weight and eating habits – the rumoured burger scandal – he has distanced himself from these rumours and claims that the only reason the midfielder has struggled for playing time is injuries.

“Ndombele had an injury in the groin area, he started working yesterday. There is very ugly news about this and that about a hamburger, it’s a lie. I trust him very much,” Buruk said last week.

Ndombele has made just seven appearances in all competitions this season playing a total of 123 minutes.
