Manchester United are preparing to introduce Altay Bayindir in goal with Andre Onana expected to join Cameroon on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in January.
ESPN report that United’s backup goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, has impressed Ten Hag and the rest of the coaching staff. They are prepared to play Bayindir if Onana misses games due to the AFCON.

Onana struggled early on but has been improving lately. Onana’s future at United could be uncertain if he decides to represent Cameroon at AFCON.
Ten Hag is already preparing for the possibility of Onana being unavailable.
Onana initially retired from international duty but later decided to play for Cameroon again. If he goes to the AFCON, he could miss up to six games for United.
According to The Daily Mirror, Onana is still undecided about whether or not to go to the tournament.
Onana is concerned that he may have to fight for his place back as United’s starting goalkeeper if Bayindir plays well in his absence. It will be interesting to see what decision Onana ultimately makes about his international future.
Bayindir has not yet played for United, but the club’s goalkeeping coaches have been very impressed with him in training.
The Turkish international has now left the UK as he has been called up by Turkiye for their games against Germany and Wales in this international break.
The Turkish national team has already booked a place in Euro 2024 and will qualify first if they avoid defeat against Wales.
