Ryan Kent’s post-Rangers struggles in Turkey took another turn for the worse as he was completely absent from Fenerbahce’s squad for their midweek Süper Lig return.

The winger, once a Ibrox hero, wasn’t even deemed good enough for the bench in the seven-goal thriller against Kayerispor.

This latest development adds to a frustrating spell for the 27-year-old.

Having failed to cement a regular starting spot Kent finds himself on the periphery of Kartal’s plans.

Loan whispers are already swirling, with a potential January move back to Rangers just one of the options being thrown around according to the Glasgow World.

English clubs Sheffield United and Leeds are also reportedly sniffing around.

However, Kartal downplayed the significance of Kent’s recent omissions, insisting the games he has been left out of are solely a tactical decision.

“It was necessary to make such a decision. There is no such thing as Kent will not play or be in the squad in future games. We have a very large squad, and unexpected names may not be in the squad in the coming weeks,” he was quoted as saying.

Kent has played just one minute of football in the last six league games for the Yellow Canaries.

While Kartal’s words offer a glimmer of hope for Kent’s future at Fenerbahce, the writing is starting to appear on the wall.

A January loan spell, perhaps even a reunion with the Gers, seems increasingly likely.

Kent has one goal and two assists in 15 appearances for Fenerbahce in all competitions this season.
