Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remains confident in his backup goalkeeper options if Andre Onana joins Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Onana’s potential absence for up to six games isn’t ideal, but Ten Hag trusts Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton to step up.

“When he (Onana) goes there, we have a strong group of keepers with Bayindir and Tom Heaton so we are comfortable,” said Ten Hag.
“Of course, we hope Andre is available as much as possible, but if not we have two good keepers who can replace him.”
Bayindir has yet to make his debut for United despite Onana struggling to settle in.
The Cameroon international conceded twice today following the 2-0 defeat away against West Ham United in the Premier League.
Ten Hag is not certain that Onana will however, join Cameroon yet and said it all depends if he is called up for international duty or not.
Ten Hag said United and Onana are still in talks as they await Cameroon’s squad announcement, adding: “If they call him up, you know the regulations.”
Onana could miss much of January and the first half of February if he goes to AFCON as the tournament runs from Saturday 13 January to Sunday 11 February 2024.
Despite Onana not being in the best of form Bayindir has been unable to break into the team.
However, he is likely to get his chance if Onana does leave and could give Ten Hag a difficult decision to make if he performs well.
Onana has conceded 41 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions this season for United.
