Besiktas have made their move for Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles and are waiting for the Premier League club to make a decision on his future according to Sports Digitale journalist, Turkish football transfer expert Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
Sabuncuoglu tweeted the following on X: “Besiktas have agreed personal terms with Jamaal Lascelles, an offer has been made to Newcastle United. Now they are waiting for an answer.”
The 30-year-old defender, while not a guaranteed starter with a fully fit Newcastle backline, has seen increased playing time this season due to injuries. However, with his contract expiring in the summer, Besiktas have seized the opportunity to lure him across the continent.

The Turkish giants have submitted a bid, and now the ball lies in Newcastle’s court. Whether they choose to cash in on Lascelles now or retain him until his contract expires remains to be seen.
The report claims that Lascelles is on board and prepared to join Besiktas if Newcastle agree to the move.
With six-months left on his contract if he does not join in January he could end up joining the Black Eagles as a free agent this summer unless he signs an extension deal with Newcastle.
With Besiktas waiting patiently and Newcastle holding the key, Lascelles’ future hangs in the balance. The coming days could see the experienced defender embark on a new chapter in Istanbul.
Besiktas have had a disappointing season sacking three managers and having a change of board members and club president. The club are currently planning an overhaul for the next campaign and see Lascelles as being part of their squad rebuilding project.
