Arsenal Exit Beckons for Defender: Turkish Giants Circle as Curtains Close

Cedric Soares’ Arsenal adventure appears to be nearing its conclusion, with Turkish giants Galatasaray and Besiktas circling the out-of-favor defender according to The Standard.

His contract expiring in the summer, the question is no longer if he’ll leave, but when.

Besiktas have been linked with Soares for weeks but Galatasaray have now also joined the race which could prove a problem for the Black Eagles.

Galatasaray would be able to offer a title challenge and Europa League football this season.

With Sacha Boey closely linked with a move to Bayern Munich, Galatasaray could be in need for a new right-back.

The 31-year-old’s time as a Gunner has dwindled since his 2020 arrival, managing just six appearances in the last two seasons. Now, according to The Standard, he’s attracting interest from both sides of the Bosphorus.

Cedric’s career has seen him climb through the ranks of Sporting Lisbon, Southampton, and eventually to Arsenal. With 34 Portugal caps to his name, his experience is undeniable. However, limited playing time has cast a shadow over his tenure in North London.

Should Cedric depart before February’s deadline, a permanent move seems more likely than a loan. His hefty reported wages of £100,000-a-week likely factor into Arsenal’s eagerness to sever ties.

With Galatasaray and Besiktas vying for his services, his days in North London seem numbered, and this FA Cup clash against Newport County could be his final curtain call with the Gunners.
