Manchester United marked a historic moment by raising the Turkish flag at Old Trafford in honor of goalkeeper Altay Bayındır’s debut for the club.

After securing his transfer for €5 million earlier this season, Bayındır finally saw action in the FA Cup fourth-round clash against Newport County.

He stood strong between the posts as Manchester United secured a 4-2 victory and while he did concede two goals he did put on a good performance making important saves.

Following the match, Bayındır expressed his overwhelming pride in becoming the first Turkish player to represent Manchester United.

This iconic moment not holds personal significance for the goalkeeper and for Turkish football in general for having finally have a footballer represented at one of the biggest clubs in the world in United.

Bayindir will be hoping his debut performance will get him more playing time this season but he could struggle for a spot in the team with Andre Onana returning from international duty with Cameroon after his country were knocked out of AFCON.

United play tonight against Wolves but Onana is expected to return in goal with Bayindir being relegated to the bench.
