Turkish youngster Arda Güler made a memorable home debut for Real Madrid at the Bernabéu on Saturday, winning a late penalty in their comfortable 4-0 win over Girona.
Güler, brought on in the 77th minute, drew a foul inside the box in the 89th minute, earning a penalty for the hosts. Although teammate Joselu missed the spot-kick, Güler’s performance impressed in his limited time on the pitch.

Despite limited playing time, Güler’s cameo fueled fan demands for the young talent to see more action. Reports suggest Real Madrid rejected several loan offers for Güler in the winter window, believing in his future potential.
Güler’s place in the team was being called into question with reports linking him with a summer exit but both the player and the club have made it clear they want him to stay.
With crucial Champions League ties and the final stages of La Liga approaching, Güler’s opportunities could increase. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti emphasized patience and development for the rising star.
The 18-year-old had to wait half a season to make his debut at home in the league but that was due to being out injured. Now that he as recovered he is slowly getting more and more playing time and working his way into the team.
