Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has suggested that young midfielder Arda Guler could be in line for a starting role in their upcoming La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano.

Los Blancos head into the match holding a five-point lead atop the table but face a busy period with key players Antonio Rudiger and Jude Bellingham ruled out. This situation necessitates squad rotation, creating an opportunity for the 18-year-old Guler.

However, Ancelotti has hinted at a shift in Guler’s fortunes, acknowledging his readiness and ability to contribute against Rayo Vallecano. While emphasizing Guler’s need to fight for his place, Ancelotti also called for patience.

“He is fine now, he can play from the beginning, he has the level to contribute. Now he has to fight for a position, but we must also be patient”, as per reports from Marca.

Guler could end up getting his first start for in the league for Real since joining the Spanish giants last summer.

Guler has been linked with a Real exit on loan at the end of the season but his lack of playing time has come down to injuries and not form; additionally, he is happy at the club and does not want to leave.

Despite possessing undeniable talent, Guler’s debut season in Madrid has been less than stellar. Injuries and inconsistent form have limited him to only 22 minutes of league action, leaving him out of Ancelotti’s regular plans.

In total the Turkish international has made four appearances in all competitions for Real this term playing a total of 89 minutes.

Real Madrid face a challenging opponent in Rayo Vallecano, having been held to a goalless draw at home earlier this season and suffering a defeat on the road in 2022.
