Manchester, England: Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has emerged as a potential transfer target for Turkish giants Galatasaray, according to A Spor.

The 25-year-old Turkish international joined United last summer for £4.3 million as backup to Andre Onana, but has seen limited playing time, featuring in just one FA Cup match. Onana has firmly established himself as first-choice under manager Erik ten Hag.

Reports suggest Galatasaray are looking to replace their aging goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, and view Bayindir as a suitable long-term replacement.

The club’s coach, Okan Buruk, reportedly desires a Turkish goalkeeper, partly due to regulations limiting the number of foreign players in the squad.

While Bayindir might have expected more playing time at United, Ten Hag’s continued faith in Onana leaves his future uncertain. A move to Galatasaray would be controversial, considering his past with their fierce rivals Fenerbahce.

The potential transfer comes amidst a heated Turkish Super Lig title race, with Galatasaray currently two points ahead of Fenerbahce.

Onana’s return after a brief stint with Cameroon has coincided with a resurgence in United’s form, further diminishing Bayindir’s chances of regular starts.

As United prepare for their FA Cup tie against Luton Town, Bayindir’s future remains unclear. While he remains at the club for now, a summer move to Galatasaray appears possible, fueled by limited playing time and the opportunity to join a title contender in his home country.
